Family Category Visas – Bringing Families Together in New Zealand
The Family Category offers a range of visa options to help New Zealand citizens and residents reunite with their close family members. These visa pathways are designed to strengthen family bonds, support social wellbeing, and contribute to the country’s long-term development.
Whether you're planning to join your partner, bring your parents over, or support your children’s residency, the Family Category provides tailored options based on your relationship and circumstances.
Visa Options Under the Family Category:
1. Partnership Visa

Note: This category may be subject to selection processes or limited places.
4. Dependent Child Category

- Aged 24 or under,
- Single with no children of their own, and
- Financially dependent on their parent(s).

Each visa type has unique criteria around income, relationship evidence, age limits, and financial support. Some require proof of long-term settlement intentions, while others focus on maintaining strong family units.
